In 1951, singer and actor Bing Crosby was denied entry to the Vancouver Hotel while sporting a double denim outfit – a denim jacket paired with jeans . The incident was reported in the media, and the term “Canadian tuxedo” was born, though Crosby himself was American. The term stuck as a way to describe wearing a denim jacket and jeans together.

A replica of Levi’s

In 2014, Levi’s made a profit off of the story by producing an exact duplicate of the denim jacket that Crosby wore. Included in their Levi’s Vintage Clothing collection, this jacket had shawl collar, double-breasted closure, and a dark indigo color, among other characteristics.
